What is Hair Transplantation?

A hair transplant is a procedure in which a dermatologist moves hair to a bald area of the head. The surgeon usually moves hair from the back or side of the head to the front or top of the head.

Although hair transplantation can be done in any age group people dermatologists mostly do or recommend hair transplantations within a certain age group.

For hair transplant the hair is needed from the same person it is going to be done on. The hair is taken from the back of the head called the occipital region.

How does a hair transplant work?

Before starting a transplant, your surgeon sterilizes the area where the hair will be removed and numbs it with a local anesthetic. Patient can also request sedation in order to stay asleep for the procedure.

The surgeon then performs one of two transplant methods: FUT or FUE.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the size of the transplant you're getting, the process will take about 5-8 hours to one whole day. You might need another procedure later on if you continue to lose hair or decide you want thicker hair.
