What is PRP Therapy?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. This therapy uses a patients own blood plasma for various conditions because the plasma contains high growth factors. In cosmetic dermatology, PRP therapy is used to enhance the condition of skin & hair.

What happens in PRP therapy?

During a treatment, blood is first drawn from the patient according to the need for treatment. Through a certain procedure & centrifuging the drawn out blood, the plasma is detected and extracted. That plasma is injected in the patients needed area be it scalp for hair growth or facial or neck skin for skin rejuvenation.

Is there any pain during this treatment?

PRP Therapy shouldn’t bring much pain and difficulties to the patient, only slight needle prick pains are experienced while drawing out & injecting blood but which are completely tolerable.

Is this a one session treatment?

PRP therapy isn’t a one session treatment it generally involves 4-5 sessions which are one month apart.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects aren’t really experienced after PRP therapy. In some cases the areas of blood withdraw or plasma injected areas might show some minor swellings which go away shortly within 1 day.
